Description

New technologies, like artificial intelligence and XR (virtual, augmented and mixed realities), change the ball game in cultural management. You will learn the basics of several new technologies and their contemporary applications, and explore the opportunities they offer in the working fields and activity networks of creative industries.

E-Learning in Moodle. Lectures in Zoom virtual meeting room, readings, videos, tasks and materials online in Moodle, lectures and group work in Zoom and Google Drive.

Starts Wed 8.th Apr at 13.00 (1PM) in Zoom video conference.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course the student can
– understand the basics of digitalization as a megatrend and opportunity
– understand the basics of new technologies and their applications and opportunities
– plan how to apply new technology in cultural productions
– plan budgeting, briefing and working with technology suppliers

Tools you need

Laptop computer with a web camera or a separate one if it is not integrated in your laptop, headset with microphone. Recommended browser: Google Chrome. If you use a mobile device, download Zoom app from Google Play or App store.

Assessment

Professional cultural managers
Cultural manager professionals targeting 3 ects:
The course requires appr. 75 hours of your work during 6 weeks. Assessment is focused on the work carried out in Moodle elearning and during lectures and their assignments.
Assessment: Moodle and its assignments 80% (max 100 points each assignment), lectures participation and their assignments 20%.

Metropolia students
Metropolia students targeting 5 ects: The course requires appr. 135 hours of your work, appr. 20 hours/ week during 6 weeks.Assessment is focused on the work carried out in Moodle elearning, during lectures and their assignments, and collaborative project work.
Assessment: Moodle and its assignments 50% (max 100 points each assignment), lectures participation and assignments 20%, project 30%. 

Certificate

All students completing the course will get a New tech proof cultural manager (NERDO) certificate that can be saved to own LinkedIn.

The student knows the basics of budgeting technology solution development. 

Excellent (5)
The student demonstrates excellent knowledge of the basics of digitalization. The student recognizes the opportunities of many new technologies.The student uses co-operation and communication skills to express ideas and concepts. The student can develop together with the other actors application ideas of new technologies that benefits creative industries. The student can brief technology solution providers.
